Sorry I feel like I need to rant. I am so sick of being left handed sometimes, seriously. I really want to get better at using a keyboard and mouse but I can't because the PC gaming world has made it impossible for me to do so. Here is my problem:

I can play alright with my right hand. But I can't play COMPETITVELY with my right hand. It's just too inaccurate. I've been trying to use it for the last three months and I've seen no improvement in how I aim, in games like Borderlands and Killing Floor. I get left behind when I play with friends because I can't get any decent loot because I can't kill anybody quickly enough! Crafting in Minecraft takes twice as long. I can click items well but I can't drag them around accurately at anywhere near the speed I do it with my left hand. Hell, I find it hard to click radio buttons in Windows sometimes :/

Now, I would use the mouse with my left hand, but that would involve having to rebind all the keys for ALL OF MY GAMES to work with my left hand. So that means WASD turns into PL:@. But games like Borderlands and Killing Floor have a bijallion key bindings. And did I also mention that I have 78 games I need to rebind keys for??

Seems like a solution, right? Well I would do it but whenever a friend comes over they would want the keys swapped, which means I'd have to set the keys to default AND change the mouse buttons for them as well.

Why are games still being made with controls like this? Would it be difficult to simply add an option to select left hand and right hand controls within the game and it's all done for you? Because that would solve a lot of my problems. I have to resort to using a controller for most games, but I could be better with a keyboard and mouse.

Just try playing a game of CS:GO or Borderlands with your left hand and you'll know how I feel.

Rant over.

If I could go back in time and change the moment I first used a PC so I used my right hand then by God I would :(

All my "lefty friends" use their mouse with the right hand. I dont know if they adapted it, or they got used to it since the first time they sat in front of a pc.

Good sir, if you have to rebind keys... rebind it. So you have a metric ton of games. Do you play them all? Every day of the week? Because I don't see any issues with that... not that it would be hard to set some keybinds. Hell... I set my own binds when I feel the need to.

BUT... I don't see any harm in a "lefty" binds option either... but hey... it is what it is. No hate whatsoever.

*facepalm* You don't get the question...

Anyways, its more expensive to produce left mice and other things. not a whole lot of people are lefty so not too many companies bother with it

Ok maybe I didn't, but most games come stock for Right handed people because there are more right handed people.

Yeah, that is the only way I can use my left hand... It just takes more getting used to using my right hand with the keyboard, that's all. I think I need to experiment, that's all. I guess I'm just a bit bitter about the fact that right handed people have it a lot easier because everything is designed for them... :/

Just bind your things to be left handed and tell your friends to f*ck themselves if they want it changed

As much as I would love to do that, I'm too nice to my friends to say anything like that :3

That's my point though. I can understand in the case of actually manufacturing a product for left handed people. Especially in the niche market of "left handed PC gaming peripherals", there aren't going to be a huge amount of sales. But all it takes is probably a few hours at most for a game dev to write in support for left hand key bindings, which makes a left handed person's life a lot more comfortable and there's less hassle if a right handed person wants to play.

They do make some left handed mouses, I know Razer makes a Deathadder with leftie capabilities however I can understand you have limited choices. However though, you could just be ambidextrous like me xD.

Haha, I wish I was properly ambidextrous. My writing is legible with my right hand but it's still a bit scrawny. Compared to writing with my left hand, though, which is pretty neat, it's a pile of trash :D

That's lucky for you! Like I said I can play decently with my right hand. It's not like I'm a total failure - just that if I want to play to win, instead of have fun then it gets difficult because my right hand lacks the fine control that my left hand has. Are you playing FPS games? Would you say your aim speed and accuracy are the same with both hands? And how good a player would you say you are in the first place? Haha :)

I went through a few rounds in cs:go with my left hand on the mouse and right hand on the wasd keys. In the beginning i sucked nuts but after a short while i had my aim in :)

don't play as much fps games as i used to. But i can still put up a good fight.

my accuracy was slightly improved and aim speed was a bit slower. The main thing was the keyboard controls. Took a while to wrap my head around those. And reaching a few keys was problematic, kept missing R xD

So final verdict is:

I might start switching the mouse around when im playing a marksman class :)

You could download the free game Osu! it's a game where you click little circles to the beat of music. Basically you can start with it pretty slow and ramp up the speed. You'll be precision aiming in no time!

I'm left handed and never had a problem using the mouse with my right hand, you did make me wonder though if I had been using my left hand the last 15 years if I'd be better at FPS games and such.

I can use the mouse in my left hand no problem, which is nice. Impressive to most people.
