Hello, so im planning on building a gaming PC only for the new flight sim, since I don't own a PC with those kinda specs yet.

Here are the components I've chosen so far:

Mainboard MSI MPG Z490 GAMING PLUS

CPU: Intel® Core™ i7-10700K, (???????)

RAM: G.Skill DIMM 32 GB DDR4-3200

graphic card: GIGABYTE GeForce RTX 2080 SUPER WINDFORCE OC 8G

Power supply: Corsair TX650M

SSD: Samsung 970 EVO Plus 1 TB

Now to my question: Im trying to play the simulator with the highest possible settings, so I really need a good CPU. Ive heard that Ryzen is close to or even better than Intel but cheaper. On the Intel side I would either choose a i7 9700k or the i7 10700k or the i7 9700x. If I were to pick Ryzen, I would take the Ryzen 7 3800x or something like that.

Overall the CPU really shouldn't cost more than 400€

Im glad if someone could help me thanks :)

don't consider the 9700k, as it's on a platform that won't be updated, and is dead in a way.

as for comet lake or zen 2, im not sure when flight simulator will come out but iirc it's later down the line this year, so wait for zen 3 which should be in Q3/Q4 of this year and check what it has to offer.

3700x does the same thing and is generally cheaper.

PC: Motherboard: ASUS B550M TUF-Plus, CPU: Ryzen 3 3100, CPU Cooler: Arctic Freezer 34, GPU: GIGABYTE WindForce GTX1650S, RAM: HyperX Fury RGB 2x8GB 3200 CL16, Case, CoolerMaster MB311L ARGB, Boot Drive: 250GB MX500, Game Drive: WD Blue 1TB 7200RPM HDD.

Peripherals: GK61 (Optical Gateron Red) with Mistel White/Orange keycaps, Logitech G102 (Purple), BitWit Ensemble Grey Deskpad.

Audio: Logitech G432, Moondrop Starfield, Mic: Razer Siren Mini (White).

Phone: Pixel 3a (Purple-ish).

A R7 3700X on B550 or X570 with 64 GB Ram, a GTX 2080 Ti and at least 1 TB NVME PCI Gen3 storage.

Basically go balls to the wall with it. You can also go Intel and waste more money but I am guessing the game will be optimized for 6 or more cores and will mostly rely on fast storage and lots of VRAM.

ok so ryzen it is. The game is released on 18th of August. Any affordable cpus coming out by then or can I might as well buy one now?

BTW: Im not very experienced in computers, I know the components and what they do but thats about it...

In 2 weeks.

Gonna by hard to know exactly what's needed until then and whether it might make use of the additional cores of a Ryzen or if it prefers Intel in some way. But as with all FSes it'll likely be "the best you can get".. Should probably wait for reviews to decide.

afaik, at least from what i have heard, 8 cores is fine, i don't keep up with it so i could be wrong.

we don't know how demanding the game will be, just wait and check, and if possible wait for zen 3.

If the Digital Foundry video is of any indication, it's gonna rape whatever hardware it can get its hands on when maxed out.

zen 3 is ryzen 4000, but yea if possible wait for zen 3, which should be better, as for price, we don't really know sadly, but i would assume it'll be a little more expensive.

I'd wait for proper reviews of the game. I'd bet a lot of tech channels will bench that game if it really is that demanding.

Me personally, I am waiting on Zen 3 and the 3000 series GPUs, also need to get a new joystick or yoke with some pedals, the old stuff doesn't work with 64 bit windows.

awesome, I'll start ordering the parts of my computer now, except the mainboard, CPU and graphic card

Also, If I plan to build the PC myself, are the cables included in the case or mainboard or do I need to buy them separately?

Why not choose 3900X when it come with a CPU fan (not great but ok fan and save $$$)?
