The Amd bottleneck.

How will a Amd Athlon x4 760k/750k bottleneck with a GTX760 card if games like.BF4,TF2,L4D2 are played??p.s. just curious as the Athlons are really good cpu from what i've heard.

BF4 uses your cpu more than the other games and the athlon wont perform very well in this but the other titles you mentioned will perform fine with that cpu + gpu combo

But fps wont drop a lot will it and the 760 can still play BF4 at ultra at playable fps??

Using lower end CPUs will usually result in some sort of performance hit.

With a CPU like you mentioned, using a GPU that supports Mantle will help remove that performance hit in BF4 and whatever else it is implemented with in the future.

you might be able to play it at 1080p low 60fps and medium around 40-60fps but ultra will no way be playable

Athlon CPUs are not as good as you heard. they will bottleneck the 760 in certain games like BF4 it'll be playable though. Rather get a FX 6300 if you're on a budget. else an i5 2500k, 3570k or 4570k or 8320 if you got cash to burn.

But will Mantle be much more common in future?

athlon dips in framerate alot in bf multi

a 6300 should be considered minimum for nvidia cards

But am3+ boards just don't have itx board which i don't like.

It's already in BF4, and it's supposed to be in Thief, Star Citizen, and a few others. It's wide scale adoption is still not known as only time will tell. If Direct X gets involved them similar gains with lower end hardware could be seen. The downside to that is there is no time frame for that while Mantle already works.

making new build? budget? lets see what we can do.

Well athlon kinda must be overclocked to get rid of a bit of bottleneck.

For BF that is your most demanding game on list, you could go with 270 or 270x with good cooler and overclock it alot.      Then you get mantle and you put strain off cpu. Make sure you got good airflow and cooling.

Do you mean the 760 will perform almost around the same like have about the same fps as the r9 270 or 270x with the bottlenecks of the Athlon??

Mantle... so you remove cpu bottleneck, gain a little with gpu, and gain with overclocking ( 270x with good cooler is great overclocker).

Minimum fps would definitly be comparable. Or even in favor of amd.

Will the amd 7870/7850 be supported by Mantle?

yes but 265 ( 7850), 270 and 270x have newer gcn ( i think someone comfirm ) something newer for mantle support anyway.

Mantle (and it's counterparts) are going to be everywhere, especially once Direct X is updated for it.

Microsoft has made news about making Direct X (new version) like mantle, and is even getting help with it from AMD.

Your CPU will run better in the future, no matter your GPU, however, currently you would need AMD.

Case: Lian Li PC011-D - CPU: 3900x - GPU: 2080ti Reference - Mobo: Gigabyte - Ram: Corsair 4x16gb 3200MHz - SSD: 2TB Samsung Evo NVME

then go expensive and buy an i5, you won't be able to do a good overclock in an itx box. what screen resolution do you play at? the Athlon shouldn't bottleneck much if it's less than 1080p

Not really? The only cpu intensive game listed is bf4 and it'll still perform moderately well.

But he should be able to play like a champ on medium... A buddy of mine plays at 1080p with medium details with a 7790 and still gets 60-80fps. If a 7790 can do it, a 760 can do better.

I believe I can legitimately answer your question. My htpc has an Athlon 750k in it. When I get home I will put one of my 660tis in it and tell you how it performs

Athlon 760k will be bottlenecking GTX 760 and will be using approximately only upto 90-92% of the total GTX 760s gpu...it will cause some fps drop as well as delay in rendering the physics of the game...

One of my friend has Pentium D 820 along with a GTX 660Ti which he bought a while ago...its funny to see how he can use only 60-70% of its potential...LOL... :)
