Bottleneck

hello everyone, i want to but a 2080ti, and current cpu is an I7 7700K ,should i be worried about bottlenecks?

im also running a 650w power supply, a single channel 16gb vengeance ram and a maximus IX hero, and a gtx 1060 6b(currently)

a pretty huge amount of games won't run any better on a 6 core CPU than a quad core CPU. What do you mostly play?

some pretty big games, tomb raider, watch dogs 2, GTA V, Destiny, Fallout 4, and i pre purchased cyberpunk 2077

currently 1080p, but i prefer every setting maxed out at 100-120fps

That's fine. There will be some improvement if you were to upgrade the CPU to a more recent intel, but you will be fine for the most part especially if you overclock the 7700K. The upgrade from the 1060 will be noticeable.

tomb raider benefits from a 6 core CPU, but runs well on the 7700k regardless. Cyberpunk's recommended specs so far are pretty beefy, it's possible that it will struggle on a quad core CPU, but only time will tell.

your system consumes close to 450 watts at max load.

if i had to put a number on it it's about a 25-30% bottleneck, effectively making ur 2080 ti a 2080S, it's worth it to upgrade cpu when u can, but a 7700k is good enough that u can wait for zen 3.

definitely  go for dual, you'll be doubling your bandwidth, you'll have a nice performance benefit.

wait for ampere and big navi. the 1060 should be decent for now, also get a 2080 super if you do not want to wait, as the ti's performance does not justify it's price compared to the 2080 super.

but for the most part, a 7700k will handle it just fine, but again, wait.

thats what a bottleneck is...but debating over that will go nowhere, this is about op, if u upgrade to a 10600k, ull see a significant improvement, but wait for zen 3. @linusdroppedme worst case is a 450usd upgrade with a z490+10600k.
