Alternative Headset for Audio Technica Ath-ad900x

Bloodline01

Just recently got the 900x to upgrade from a crappy "gaming" headset but they are not comfortable for my head despite the fact they sound really good. What are some good alternatives for around the same price range and have a good reputation for gaming? I was looking at the Beyerdynamic Dt-990 but I read that they need an amp the get their full potential and I'm not sure if my audio interface has a good amp (Behringer UM2). Thanks in advance.

Edit: Budget is <$200

Your Behringer will not be able to drive the DT 990's fully. Although you could get the Beyerdynamic TYGR's they are really good despite what you see the pricetag is at. Beyer knows what they are doing. The TYGR's are the same as the 990's except they are marketed as gaming headphones and has less impedence. (32ohm)

The tygrs are also a more pleasant listen. Much less treble . A good alternative to the 900x  is also the akg k712 and even the cheaper k702 sounds pretty close to how wide the ad900x is with just as good as imaging.

Tried the Rubber Band mod? I've done that to my ATX-990Zs and they've gone from okay to brilliant in terms of comfort.

I didn't try but I already returned them (kinda wish I tried this first lol).

Thanks for the response, I'd have to buy directly from beyerdynamic and wait 3-4 weeks for shipping since other stores only sell the bundle with the mic for $300. Any other recommendations potentially?

What's your budget? Presume you're looking around the ~$300 mark given the AD900x purchase.

AKG K712 Pros are a good shout, or if you can push the budget a little then I would look at the Shure SHR-1540s or 1840s.

The 1840s can be had for ~£350 here in the UK, not sure about US pricing, and they're absolutely brilliant. Circa £600 for a pair a few years back and regarded nearly as highly as the likes of HD800s.

I mean it will be worth the wait for the TYGR's. They are great sounding and really light and comfortable, like all other beyers.

Sorry, should have made that more clear in the original post. My Budget is less than $200 since I got the 900x for $160.
