GTX 1080 Low Fps on some games

baybars459

Hello guys, my system is:
i7 4790 3.6 GHz
RAM: https://prnt.sc/tn42w1

Msi Armor 1080
ASUS Z97-AR

BenQ XL2411

If there is lack of info, sorry about that I'm not good with computer stuff. For example I'm getting average of 70fps on Monster Hunter World even in some zones it goes down to 55s and on Rust I can barely see 70-75 fps, it is mainly on 55-65 fps and since I'm used to play on fps games on 144hz it is such pain, games like VALORANT there is no problem at all, it is always on +144 no matter what. If you need anymore info ask for it, I don't know what to do. Btw I'm playing both Rust and MHW on very low graphics almost everything is on low, thanks for your patience.

I dont know if it is going to help but,you should see the clocks of the card with msi afterburner and see if everything is fine. Also if you have geforce experience "Optimize the settings" of the games you want to play.Maybe a setting is tweaked on those games, like resolution scaling set to more that 100%.If you have more question feel free to ask!!Hope this helps

Monster Hunter World

this game is notoriously heavy on cpu, your cpu is probably pinned running this

setting it to low wont help because it's just lessening the load mostly on your GPU

but to be sure, check your CPU usage when running MHW

edit: also, i find running MHW in DX12 lessens the load on the CPU

-sigh- feeling like I'm being too negative lately

what is the cpu usage like?

i find the fps cap for my i5 6600 system on mhw to be around 80-90 as well, where it's pinned at 100%

on low settings 768p

sounds bout right after factoring in thread scaling and what not

but yea MHW is cpu heavy, so it's normal to run at these fps on your cpu

try DX12 if u havent already

not too sure bout rust

And you said low settings right? If thats the case try and see if there is a resolution scale option in game. My old 1050 ti on low all was able to get me 30 - 35 even 40 in some cases fps

Can you hear any weird noise coming from the card,or does it smell fried?

You said that you get around 70 and 55 fps on some zones.Try to play on the lowest settings or again as I said try to have the Geforce Experience program to optimize the game for your pc.Though if you want my opinion if you have a 60hz monitor you should just play with Vsync.

its your cpu. these games like more cores and threads. thus your performance will suck. best fix if you really like to play those games? play on 720p. or get a newer cpu. it sucks but thats the way it is.
