Coil whine on new gpu

Hardwaregeek218

Hey guys,

yesterday I bought my new Rx 5700 xt but today I noticed a coil whine, while gaming and in the desktop when I use my mouse. My question is, if there is a possibility to fix it or if it can go away by itself? It’s not so loud but you can hear it and when you hear it it annoys you. Do you have the same issue? Or do you know how to fix it? Thank you.

The only ways to really get rid of it are to put some kind of sound dampening in your case or to run your game at lower settings, not really ideal. Unfortunately there are not really any ideal solutions to get rid of it

to fix it

its not a problem to fix lol. it's completely normal, you can try setting the fan curve to something higher to overpower the coil whine noise.

Sometimes people change power suppllies and it goes away, but it's completely random and not something you can just fix.

You aren’t alone, I’ve been using a red devil 5700xt and the coil whine is insane. I thought I was over working the card, turns out it’s just normal. It is very much a bummer tho :/ I tend to cap my FPS to stop it :(
