I don't feel a difference in fps

Johnny-Boi

soooo, my dad just got a gaming pc, and at first when i was messing around with some games on it, he accidentally left it at locked 60hz, after fixing this the fps went up to 75-95, i then had him put it down to high instead of ultra, and then after it went to 120fps i didn't feel a difference. am i just not focusing on the right things, or is it just me? can anyone help me figure this out? sorry if this is a stupid thing to ask.

PC is a work in progress, open to any tips and suggestions with ways listed above聽馃槈

depends on your monitor's refresh rate, if it's 60hz, you wont see any smoother animations if your game is running above 60

you would feel like it's more responsive as there is less gap between input and display, but you would also experience tearing

but some people are also not able to tell the difference between 60hz and 120hz at first, it takes them awhile

edit: this video explains it better, i suppose

Spoiler

-sigh- feeling like I'm being too negative lately

Im the same. I dont notice a difference at all when above 60fps. I can definitively notice lower but I have monitors that are 144 and 300 but I can not tell a difference at all. Physical size and graphics quality matter more to me.

I am far from an expert in this so please correct me if I鈥檓 wrong.

I was the same way when I first started gaming at 120Hz, I didn鈥檛 notice a difference at all compared to 60Hz. After playing at 120Hz聽for a while, I left the monitor capped at 60Hz one time聽and noticed something was off pretty soon.聽You might just have to get used to higher refresh rates.聽

I don't have any monitor with a refresh rate higher than 60Hz but I did upgrade one to 75Hz but didn't notice any difference. However I do notice when the game runs below 60Hz on my PC but I'm totally fine playing at 30FPS on my PS4. Is there a reason behind it?

Going from 30 to 60, or vice versa, is very noticeable for most people.聽

Once you get over 60 it becomes much less pronounced.聽

I find it difficult to tell any difference between 75 and 100 fps, or 120 and 160.

Perhaps, some people are very tuned in and can notice even the slightest drop - most don't.聽

I'm super sensitive to this shit聽 hence I'm only playing at 60fps聽 locked,聽 1 fps drop I get immediately crisis and want to reinstall windows... Oof.聽

You can really tell if there's one frame dropped?
