Is the Seasonic Core Gold GM 500W good?

Winggie

Im gonna use it in this build (Don't pay attention to the prices, I don't live in the US). I just looked into the PSU tier list, and this one was ranked in the Mid-Range systems. It was displayed as grey, but what are the flaws?

I am not intimately familiar with the PSU Tier List's spreadsheet, but it seems like different Seasonic units have problems with AMD VEGA videocards (and possibly other high power consumption videocards), which wouldn't pose much of an issue with your current build.

Tagging @Juular and @LukeSavenije just in case, so they can confirm/deny what I said above.

You're thinking the Focus platform. That has been replaced. The Core GM is good and without any known defects

It's ... not. Because we don't know anything about it other than it looks like a costdown Focus. Still, should be decent option for mid-range build if it's cheap enough, hopefully Aris would deliver a review on it soon.

Local crowd is really loving it over here, including thre snobs who tend to replace half the internal caps themselves for any unit they buy so I assume it's good

Personally, I would get something like a BitFenix Formula Gold. Better build quality and we actually have reviews on it.

The Core is a cheaper version of the new Focus GM series.  Not sure of all the differences, but I know the core has a cheaper fan for one.  The new Focus GM series does not have the issues with the Vega graphics card power surge and it's a Tier A power supply.  I have a Focus GM-650 and it's been perfect so far.  I'd get the Focus GM-550 if you can find it, but if you need to save money, the core will be fine.
