I7 6800k Overclock issue

I've been trying to overclock my i7 6800k and for some reason in Bios it says my CPU is overclocked at 4ghz but every time I open task manager and look at the CPU speed it tops out at 3.6GHz when running stress tests like prime95. The VCCIN voltage is set at 1.775 and the CPU core is 1.2

Intel disabled overclocking on Broadwell-E due to security issues, you could be facing this issue.

Is there anyway around that or am I just out of luck with that. Is it just worth it to consider upgrading to another motherboard and CPU?

If it's worth or not depends on your need, if the CPU no longer suffices to what you do and you want more there certainly are good choices from either Intel or AMD, anything with 8 or more cores.

 

If you just want to overclock you might be able to do so if you install specific BIOS for your motherboard, it'll be something to search about.

Using InSpectre to disable the spectre and meltdown updates and microcode changes may help with that, those side channel attacks are only theoretical anyhow, and haven't been explored upon, so I always disable those on my intel systems.

I finally figure it out, had to go into one of the windows update and change the permission and give them to myself and after that i was able to overclock it.
