It'll work, it's just that it'll run at 3.0 speeds.

Rocket Lake (11th gen) chips will enable PCIe 4.0 support on Z490.

I bought the FireCuda Gen4 500gb i wanted to use it for windows and csgo.
but i just realised i have a motherboard that doesnt support gen4 but will it still run even tho not as fast ? or will it just not work at all ? i broke the seal so i cant return it...

It will work just fine m.2 is forwards and backwards compatible. Yours will just run slower not that it matters for your use case anyways
