Do you really need anti static wristbands?

Do you really need the anti static wristbands? I'm able to find one online for around 1 dollars but the shipping cost 3 dollars, and i can't find it anywhere on my area.

I've been watching Linus build videos and it's so rare for him to use the wristbands so what should i do

No, you really don't. I never have.

Just don't build on a shag carpet (or any carpet if you can avoid it), and make the conscious effort to touch your case before you manhandle any components. An anti-static wristband basically just takes that step out.

Also pro tip, if you have to build on carpet just wear flip-flops or shoes with a rubber sole to help avoid static charge. But it's really not a big of a risk that the internet makes it seem.

It really depends where you live. It can absolutely be a huge problem. For me, I really only need to worry about it in the winter.

If you don't want to spend money on a wrist strap and static isn't crazy bad in your area, just plug in the PSU and flip the power switch off. While working, occasionally touch the power supply and you'll ground yourself that way.

Winter is the only time anyone gets static shocks here. It's probably just best to invest in a wristband.
