Hi!

I made this post to ask for a recommended PSU since I thought what I had didn't have enough juice to run things properly. Turns out I was wrong, and the problem seems to lie with the motherboard. To test I placed the ram in slots 1-3 and it did not boot. Placed it in slots 2-4 and it did not boot. Placed the ram in 1-2 and it did boot but can only run in single channel mode. I tested each module individually.

Tested the ram in another PC and it works without issue.  Checked CPU socket for any bent pins, checked CPU for residue in pads. I have also updated BIOS to F9e (latest). I contacted Gigabyte tech support and was told to start an RMA... I went to check my warranty status and it ran out on 03/02/2020. This is the second time this has happened. Previously I had a GA-Z77X-UD5H and the bios went out just a month after the warranty ended. So...I'm done with Gigabyte. Maybe I'm the issue but for something to go wrong with their products right after the warranty ends is just frustrating me to no end.

I knew my next upgrade would be with AMD anyway so which mobo do you recommend? Anything but Gigabyte please. Oh and if you have any PSU recommendations I'd love that as well. AMD are power hungry from what I've heard and so I may need to upgrade that too, hah.

Don't miss the greater happiness by being misled by minor sufferings

What will it be used for, and how many peripherals (external usb but also internal sata / nvme), what processor.

Personally id skip b450 since you have a lot of drives and dont want crap like sara purts suddenly disabling if you add a nvme drive and stuff like that.

Depending on availability and price id look at a decent b550 board. Im now on a msi board (tomahawk mag x570) and have had little issues or quircks, the b550 version should be equally decent.

But it depends on how you upgrade; if youd consolidate to bigger drives, or not planning to add more, and just want to game at low cost and equal performance b450 max wil perform just as well (just dont expect to upgrade higher than 3700x then).

Just 1 mans opinion, and i recently also switched from intel to team red, and am very happy with the results,

AMD CPUs currently use less power then Intel equivalents, and your EVGA 850W G2 is enough for a OC'd 10900K + a 250W GPU(like your 1080Ti) which is the CPU with the highest power consumption without going HEDT. As example of the power consumption, the 3700X uses about the same amount of power as your 7700K.

Just be aware its not brands that are awesome, some products are.

The gaming edge wifi is also from msi but is incomparable to the tomahawks for example.

Why a new PSU ?

Also a monoblock ?

Do you have a custom loop?

It will be used for moderate gaming. As for the drives I've just kept what I've used as I've upgraded over time. 1x nvme drive for OS, 1x ssd drive for some games, 2x mechanical drives for storage. I might remove one of the drives though, lately I've found myself not filling them up as much as I used to.

I do! two loops currently running -- 2x blackice gtx480 radiators for gpu, 1x blackice gtr 360 radiator attached to a swiftech h360 x2 prestige for cpu.

Well that certainly takes a load off my shoulders -- the PSUs I was looking at were in the $400-$500 range lol

The CPU depends on what you're doing, so I put the 3700X as a place holder, if you need more cores for productivity then go for the 3900X or 3950X, if you need less then the 3600 would be a cheaper option, naturally the 3700X itself is a good option too.

The motherboard should be decent but is also kinda of a placeholder, as you're the one that knows what features you want, so check what motherboard got the features you need/want and possibly ask for the quality of the specific model with those features or alternatives with similar features.

The memory is a 3200MHz CL16 kit for cheap, you could get something better, but I personally don't think it's worth it when looking at the price difference. Also what memory you got currently?

Not sure on the WC block, probably someone else can help with that.
