Hello!

I currently have a EVGA SuperNOVA 850G2 PSU. I recently upgraded my system. It's currently the following:

- Corsair 1000D

- 24x fans (noctua nf-a12x25)

- Swiftech H320 X2 (also have a blackice 320 rad attached to it - both are for CPU, only push config)

- EK-XRES 140 Revo D5 PWM  (this is connected to 2x Black Ice nemesis 480GTX in push/pull config for GPU)
- Evga 1080ti ftw3
- i7 7700k (not overclocked)

- gigabyte aorus Z270X-Gaming 7 (both cpu and vrm are covered with monoblock)
- 2x 3tb hgst drives

- 1x 500gb samsung 850 evo

- 1x 250gb nvme ssd
- 2x 16gb ddr 4

When I upgraded the case, got all the fans etc I noticed that my ram wasn't working in dual channel,  it wouldn't boot up at all. only when I went single channel did it start booting up. I wonder if it's because my PSU isn't enough? It's nice that no matter what I throw at it my videocard won't go over 30c, but it turns out I also need to upgrade my swiftech's aio pump to a more powerful one. I pretty much have everything ready to go otherwise. Oh, and as for why I went overkill with cooling - I plan to go AMD for my next system upgrade and get 2x videocards in there. I know by then my psu won't be enough for sure. What do you recommend I get? I was looking at Corsair's 1600w psu but that's sold out everywhere. Are there other options or should I wait? I can play games just fine on my computer right now, but the whole single channel thing and having to change out the water pump doesn't sit well with me with what I currently have. I want to not have to worry in the future and just do incremental upgrades instead of going all nuts like I did this time lol

Any help would be appreciated.

No, the 850W G2 should be enough for this system. I've never seen or heard of a memory channel not working because of the PSU being too weak.

Check the socket for damaged pins, make sure there's no residue on the CPU's pads that make contact with the socket and in the DIMM slots on the board or on the memory sticks themselves. Also make sure you're using memory slots 2 and 4 if you're on two sticks of memory.

Ahh okay. It just seemed weird that's the only thing that didn't take after doing the upgrade. I checked the socket for damaged pins and didn't see anything - same for the cpu. I checked the dimm slots on the motherboard and cleaned the contacts on the ram itself too. I called corsair tech support and they didn't find anything wrong either. Only thing left to do is call Gigabyte. Hopefully I won't have to do an RMA for it...

But anyway, I was also worried about future additions done to the computer since I'd be switching to an AMD based system and have two gpus in it.
