Hi,

 

I have two monitors ones a 4K 60h display and the other 1080p 240hz and when watching online video at 1080p on YouTube on the 4K display because Most of the time they don’t have a 4K option it looks awful and choppy but watching it on the 1080p monitor it looks fine and smooth, will 1080p video always look worse on a 4K display rather than a 1080p display?

It shouldn't. At least  not in terms of choppiness. Of course if your 4K screen is physically larger, the pixels would be stretched out more.

Check if your 4K screens are running at 30Hz.

 

Go to 'Screen settings' > Scroll to the bottom and click 'Advanced display settings' > select your 4K monitor at the top > check "Refresh Rate (Hz)"

Its running at 60hz was thinking about overclocking the refresh rate but not really worth the hassle tend to use the other display more

There is no reason you would have to overclock your monitor to get a smooth YouTube experience
