You smart, since you ask :)

 

standoffs are just little posts that go between the back if the case and the motherboard to give a little room between the motherboard and the case (needed, otherwise the metak of the case would short contacts on the back of the motherboard). They should come with the case and might already be preinstalled.

 

Theres a number of standard positions for them, but not all mobos use them all, or the same selection.

 

Its really easier than it sounds, this might help to know what to look for:
