I've been a kpop fan for years, ~10 years now, but I keep going off and on the fandom. I tend to switch music genres. Kpop still wins with best videoclip production though.

Honestly, I liked kpop a lot more before it was mainstream and popular worldwide.

Among the funny vibes that K-Pop music gives you, the music videos are basically the only thing that K-Pop is actually known for. It basically seems to be the opposite of the Western music market where the music video supports the music. In K-Pop, it's video first, music last. Because it is, unfortunately, certainly not vocal talent.

Definitely not saying that all K-Pop artists are vocally untalented, but the whole thing with K-Pop voices is that they're not made with technique and sound in mind, but rather that they're supposed to just have a specific tone. Whether they can actually sing or not and that they're supposed to be singing for a long time and consistently live doesn't matter, it only seems to matter that they have a certain tone. Technique, emotion and vocal qualities don't exclude each other, as a matter of fact, technique allows them to express more.

I totally agree with you. Kpop videos are really about show and less about music. It's really as if the videographers want to show off what gear they use and what kind of filming and editing skills they have. For me I actually think the music is great, but the music just completes it to make it outstanding and recognized.

Also, kpop songs are usually about being catchy in their own way. If not, they will shine by using unusual tones or interesting notes in singing or the music. We can notice kpop is really following the worldwide trend nowadays, because of their trap beats for example or the way they developed their hip hop parts compared to before.

Another noticeable thing is the westernization in kpop videos that seems like a trend.
