Survinar

So i have a 500 w power supply (to be exact a Xilence XN052 | XP500R7 ) is that gonna be enough for an rx 590 and a ryzen 5 3600tx?

It would be cutting it close. It will be enough, but I wouldn't have suggest that from the start. But since you have it, its likely fine. 32 amps on the 12v rail, assuming its not a total garbage PSU, it should be fine.

The wattage of the unit doesn't decide it's quality.

Wattage wise it's enough, but i won't trust that PSU, it doesn't even have 80 plus certification....

Get a decent 450-550w and it should do great.

Sticking with your PSU might make you lose your entire system ,which i guess, will be more expensive.

get something like a cx550 (or the M version if you can) heck, even the 500W1 from EVGA would be better. (if you can't afford the CX550m)

I agree about the quality part but efficiency has nothing to do with quality ;)

Edit : also the W1 would be just as bad it's not a good psu what so ever

But it's an indication. (you have to take other factors into consideration, like voltage ripple, temps, protections, components...etc)

If a PSU doesn't have an 80 plus certification than most probably it's a system fryer.  (even horrible 80plus white cooler master PSUs have one, what about this ?)

No not really

OEM PSUs don't have any efficiency rating yet some of them use good units

A silver stone PSU ( forgot which one ) had an 80+ platinum certification yet it was terrible

Only way of knowing if a PSU is good or not is by testing it

OEM PSUs are another story.... delta is another story by itself.

But if it's an aftermarket PSU, and it doesn't have a certification to begin with, and an unknown brand ,and the 500w is combined power of 3.3v , 5v and 12v. That PSU is actually a 380w if you count the 12V rail only (which most manufacturers do)

what more signs do you need for finding out that this will fry your system ?

I didn't say that efficiency is everything, it's just a factor, an indication. look:

EDIT: @TofuHaroto the 500W1 is not a great PSU, but a lot of people tried it (including myself) it's not a bad choice if you are really low on budget. But if he is getting a 3600xt and an rx590 i wouldn't go lower than a cx550 (grey label), i would prefer the M version, modular cables are much better. (especially for small cases)

This is the same question I had in my mind a couple of months back and the solution to this doubt or problem, if you’d like to put it that way, is quite simple.

I have just 400W power supply and I did not face any problem whatsoever, so I’d strongly recommend you to stop thinking about this issue and focus on other things. You have 500W, which is more than adequate as far as I am concerned. It is a pleasure to share my thoughts with you! Hope you like it and I’d be happy to help you with any other doubts!

Wattage has nothing to do with quality lol
