Help w/ Soundcard/Dynamic Mic

EngineerGod

MIC: SHURE SM7B

HEADPHONES: beyerdynamic DT 770 STUDIO 80 ohm

Basically im trying to figure out if this sound card (EVGA NU AUDIO - https://www.evga.com/articles/01281/evga-nu-audio/ ) has enough power to power my SHURE SM7B dynamic mic. I also am using a cloudlifter CL-1 to boost the signal by +25dB.

Currently im using the SoundBlaster K3+ Audio interface to power my headphones and microphone and I wanted to switch to just using the EVGA Soundcard because it has higher audio quality for both my Audio In and Audio Out puts.

Is there any reason you would think it wouldn't work?

SM doesn't require phantom power according to Google, and the card has a Mic In...so what is troubling you?

Trying to figure out if the EVGA card has enough power to power the Shure SM7b without having to turn the signal all the way up because when doing that you get static noise

I would imagine so, if the SM doesn't require phantom power than a dedicated high end sound card should be able to drive it.  If it can't even do that then I think you would be able to return it on the basis that it doesn't do what it says on the tin.

Apologies if this comes off wrong but phantom power is just that, power, microphones still require preamps and dynamic mics especially are rather taxing on preamps. An SM7B will do exactly as it says, it's an XLR studio grade microphone and it is expected that one would use it in conjunction with an Audio Interface as any studio would, adapting it to 3.5mm is not what is expected.

OP, just get an Audio interface if you want to use an XLR microphone, withe the SM7B especially you will need an inline preamp like the cloudlifer but if you hadn't yet bought the mic and inlline pre I'd suggest a Klark Teknik CT1 or Triton Audio Fethead instead, or perhaps even just using the Aston Stealth instead of the 7B but with what you already have, grab a UMC202HD and you'll be gucci, both for mic input and headphone amplification.
