You do not need the 4770K for streaming vid, the 4670K will do you just fine. Take the extra $100 you would spend on the 4770K and put it towards something more useful.

Eh. for streaming MMO it can be nice but im sure an 8350 will be better for streaming mmos/playing them at the same time.

Will it really matter? Its a I7 that will likely be future proof enough for pretty much any game?

Better case, better cooling for the CPU, more SSD or HDD space, better motherboard with more bells and whistles to it. Maybe save it and add it to get a 780TI, the options are almost endless :)

One thing to learn about tech, nothing is future prof, by the time you get to utilizing the 4770K , the next best thing has came to the market.

I think he might be better off with a CPU that will get him the best single-threaded performance possible (unless ESO will take advantage of multiple cores?). When you get those zergs of players on screen, it'll probably help his fps a bit more.

EDIT: If he's going to want to stream his MMO playing, maybe he'll eventually want to record and edit some gameplay videos as well? The i7 might not be a bad choice then.

Also, any particular reason you picked the Corsair CX PSU in one build and the  XFX PSU in the other?

But for now it will handle anything i throw at it and should do for more years than a i5 4670k, when i talk future proofing i mean how long it will last.

There is...no such thing.

Case is subjective, he might not need more storage space, the CPU cooler is more than adequate. The 780 Ti is pretty overkill for 1080p gaming and not worth the extra almost 80% cost increase.

I'd say his build ideas are pretty solid.

@thebelgiumpope I would go with number one.

Here is what I would do:

Unless you plan of overclocking, ditch the K-series CPU.
Your CPU cooler is fine.
Get a 256 GB SSD and a 2-4 TB HDD if you can.
Get a 780 Ti.

Get a better PSU, 600W preferably.
Get a Fractal case like the Arc Mini R2.

To those naysaying the 780 Ti, streaming while playing puts a heavy load on the GPU. The stronger the card the better your stream and in game FPS are. I game @ 1080p on my 780 Ti and it is great. I can run every game @ max settings at 60 FPS or better for the most part, even while streaming/recording.

CPU: i7-3930K @ 4.8GHz MOBO: IV Gene RAM: 16GB Crucial Ballistix Tactical Tracer 1866MHz GPU: GTX 780 Ti CASE: Corsair 350D STORAGE: 2 x Samsung 840 Pro 256 GB, 2x WD Red 4TB
PSU
: EVGA SuperNova 650W DISPLAY: 1 x ASUS VG248QE, 3 x Dell U2414H COOLING: Corsair H100i INPUT: Corsair Vengeance K70, SteelSeries Sensei AUDIO: Sennheiser HD 280 Pro, ATH-M50s, Beredynamic DT770 Pro, Steelseries H Wireless

Why not get get the MSI Z87-G65 and or say a Corsair 750D? Now Im just using those as examples not saying you really should go with those, but I just honestly think you can find a better way to spend the $100 on the 4770K on something else as an upgrade to something you might have already picked out.

I will be buying a 650W anyways as i have a local shop that do good deals. 780TI is BIG overkill for my system. im doing 1 monitor and for the price the one i have now is the best.

I dont need extra storage space. My laptop only has 250gb and after 8 years with it full of junk it only has used 200gb.

Its not worth it if you can never find away to utilize all the cores and threads. I could be wrong but if all you are wanting to do is stream games like WOW and ESO, not worth it bro, just a waste of money to be honest.

Its common knowledge that I7 handle more applications better than i5. Live streaming can be heavy on the CPU and if i want ultra graphics the i5 WILL slow down.

I still run a 2700k in my PC and it is more than up to the task. I figure 3 year cycles at the very least for CPU's.

There's no telling what the future holds with games. Maybe in a year or two he'll want to play a game and that game will utilize the cores.

For the minimal price increase, it's worth it imo.

Not really. The CPU isn't that much more of an investment. It's only 70 pound more than the 4670k.

The 780Ti is Almost 200 pound more than the 780.

You get much more out of the 4770k than you would out of the 780Ti.

OK its like this, I have the i7-3970X, on average I utilize 20% or less of the CPU most of the time, was it worth it for me? If you know you will utilize all of the CPU, then yeah the extra $100 is well worth it. Im not 100% sure what all your plans are for your rig, Im just saying if you are mainly going to stream PC games like WOW and ESO, its not worth the extra for the i7
