2080Ti underperforming

Zeurpiet13

Hey everybody,

So this is the setup I currently have:

-Intel 9900K

-2080Ti

-32Gb RAM XMP Enabled

-LG 1440p ultrawide

But my fps have been very low since I've got the videocard, well not low like unplayable. But not what to expect from a +1000 dollar videocard.

In shadow of the tomb raider I'm just hitting the 60fps count (v-sync disabled, RTX enabled, everything else ultra) and GTA (ultra settings) just shy of 90 fps.

I really don't know what it could be, and I'm out of ideas.

Can anybody help me?

Does it really make that much of a difference? Wasn't expecting the FPS to be 60.

And for GTA? That should be better right?

Seems normal to me really

As for rtx , enable dlss 2.0 and that will give you a nice bump in frames

Yes, it makes quite a large difference.. Since 2000 series cards are the first to support this tech, it's kind of expected for them to not fare too greatly. Even with a 2080Ti enabling DXR will tank your framerate in most games. Next-gen cards are expected to improve this quite a bit.

For GTA 5 at 1440p ultrawide maxed out, 90FPS doesn't sound too far-fetched really. Do you also have settings like MSAA cranked up to 8x? Those will impact performance quite a lot for what they offer really, so I'd try playing around with those and seeing how they improve performance if you lower them a bit.

So I ran the benchmark, rtx disabled and dlss enabled.

But still 60fps.

This isn't right, I think?

Okay so ran the test again, but set my monitor to its default hertz. It was overclocked to 70hz.

It seems that it capped the gpu to 60fps when running on 70hz. No idea why, but it solved the problem!
