question about the fallout games

Go to solution Solved by Guest,

Fallout 3 & New Vegas are the only non-OG ones that exist.

I think Fallout 3 & DLC first because it has some limits like unkillable characters & stuff.
I think the morality is a bit grey. (INB4 Good/bad karma system) as in some of the choices if you take the Karma points out of it are less "This was the nice answer, that was the mean answer."
The game is very barren (On purpose. It's the apocalypse)

Try to avoid spoilers. Don't use the objective marker too much if you can.

You can play after beating the game with the Broken Steel DLC.

I think it's worth playing with DLC installed from the start, but it can't hurt to add it on after you've played a bit.

Then play F:NV.
F:NV is very populated as a post post apocalypse.

It's a bit more black & white. "I helped these people or I didn't help these people."

It's a thriving place. It's a bit more of a "Let's get a tour of the Desert."
The game ends after you beat it, so play the game concurrently with the DLC, but it can't hurt to add it on after you've played a bit.

hey guys, just a fellow gamer wondering which order he should play the fallout games in, i don't want to play the OG ones though

Play Fallout: New Vegas.

Then mod the ever loving shit out of it, and continue playing it.

That is all. Fallout 3 was meh, and Fallout 4 was pretty looking, but still a giant pile of Meh because Bethesda has the writing ability of a 4th grader.

When you say OG, I assume you mean Fallout 1 and 2 (and perhaps Tactics)?

I would just play them in order of release:

Fallout 3 + DLC

NV + DLC

Fallout 4 + DLC

I would skip the MMO personally.

Also, I would suggest you do play the first two. While they're very old, they're still good games, and they're fairly simple by modern standards (though that doesn't necessarily make them easy).

Personally I loved the shit out of Fallout 3 - I played all the DLC, and put well over 100 hours into it. New Vegas didn't hold my attention as well, though it's largely regarded as the better game.

Also as mentioned, Mods for NV have really given it extra legs.

3 is great but it doesn’t run on anywhere close to modern hardware in my experience, but New Vegas will with a little tweaking with compatibility settings. 4 is great IMO but many don’t like it. I have 76, and while I’m big into 3D Fallout games it is tragically bad. How Elder Scrolls Online and Fallout 76 can be from the same developer is astounding.

Yes.

Then wait and pray with the rest of us for a re-release or fan made release of Fallout: New Vegas in the Fallout 4 Engine.

It would be, amazing. Where the fuck you at Todd Howard? You love re-releasing shit. Gives us New Vegas with a graphics and engine update.

I always end up in either power armor, or ranger armor.

And I always end up immediately chainsawing Ceasar (mainly because they mispronounce his name, and I refuse to accept any argument to the contrary because that name sounds retarded) the moment I meet him.

It still makes me laugh. Every. Single. Time.

I cannot think of an opinion relating to Fallout that I disagree with more. Or maybe I just disagree with the wording.

I feel that the player has more control and influence over the ending of NV than any other Fallout game, perhaps any other game period (at least that I am aware of).

It took me for-fucking-EVER to tweak and adjust my playthroughs to get to the point that I got literally every single faction possible, big and small, to align against The Legion (purely because I absolutely HATE the way they mispronounce his name. I don't accept that that's "how it's supposed to be pronounced" I reject your reality and substitute my own).

Getting the overwhelming majority of the factions to align against The Legion is an absolute chore, and absolutely satisfying as The Legion just gets completely f**ked. Especially after I Chainsaw Ceasar himself the moment I meet him. Which I do, every single time, because he's an idiot, and so are the rest of The Legion.

One thing I can't remember doing, is getting them all to align with House. I do remember getting them to align with me.

“I helped this faction, I didn’t help this faction, I directly went against this faction.”

the game isn’t super dynamic. Most things are self contained in their areas.

It mentions who you helped/didn’t help to more detail.

Kaiser is German for king. It comes from Caesar being essentially king of Rome.

Yes. There are a lot of factions to help or not help.

I only beat the game like twice.

I did yes man cuz NCR won’t let you join their army & I accidentally screwed up every other option.

Then i did an NCR run cuz I liked NCR.

I have a challenge thing I want to do if I do legion where I make the game as hard as possible without mods.
