Spent an hour (yes, an HOUR) tearing my setup apart and putting it back together to reduce the cable clutter and cable ugliness behind my desk. Well worth it. Before it was like a spider web and I had a ton of stuff at my feet. Now, it's clean and I have a lot less wires by my feet.

See, that surge protector would go behind my desk. And yes, by something totally ghetto like tape but it would look MUCH better if it was behind the wood/metal thing above it.

Technically it is behind my desk. But I just got a new laptop to go with my trusty netbook (which will probably be a Minecraft server for my house) and my old Windows 98 laptop, so I have to have it accessible. It's actually not really in the way.

EDIT: And I have to keep it in arm's reach since my power sometimes isn't the most reliable.

ah okay, that makes sense.

If I was in your situation, I would just go buy another surge protector and plug it in somewhere else, but ok. Makes sense  :D

  • 2 weeks later...

Added another drive (a little 80GB Scorpio Blue), so with that came revamped cables. I need to get a SATA extension and then a SATA to molex adapter for my LED strip, and then throw the molex cable in my up-and-coming dual-PIII build. I should also think about getting some better fans for the front, since that top spot where I had to put a drive bay was the best airflow for my 7950.

It looks like something I would do, get halfway done doing the cable management and than say "well that's enough for today."

i kid you not i spent a good 4 hours (time i could have been asleep cause it was the middle of the night) trying so hard to clean up my cables from my NON MODUALR psu by packing ALL of the cables behind the mother board tray and using modding cables to actaully connect the power to everything xD
