Best audio you can get for any VR headset are the KOSS KSC75's. Amazing sound for the price and instead of actual headphones they have a clip design that rests on your ear.

@Tigerleon Could you recommend any headphones for Rift S or do you agree KOSS KSC75 is a solid choice?

On ear headphones can get uncomfortable, usual suggestions for VR are either over or floating away from the ears.

Not really but you don't really need to spend more than 40 dollars on headphones for a vr headset that isn't even using onboard audio or a good DAC.

I am using an Oculus Quest with the official link cable and the sound is bad. It can't use the onboard audio since it is connected with a fiber optic usb type C cable to my motherboard or GPU. So there must be a built in dac somewhere inside of the VR headset. I'm planning on getting the Valve Index since it is much better.

The Quest and Rift S are in completely different ballparks though, besides, you don't use VR for critical listening so that should really be a non-issue.
