What if I already have the Ryzen 5 1600 af?

Does it make sense to get the b550 for that cpu upgrade to the 4000 series down the road?? is it possible?

You can get b450 since those will be supporting ryzen 4000 as well, I'd suggest one of the MSI MAX boards such as the B450-A Pro MAX, Gaming Plus MAX, or Tomahawk MAX
