So, DDR4 ram has a base speed of 2133MHz. However, you can get it to run at up to 5000MHz by overclocking it. You can manually overclock it by changing frequencies, voltages and timings or you can have it done by enabling a setting called ‘XMP’. This is put onto the RAM by the manufacturer before being sold. In the motherboards bios, you can enable this and it will automatically set the frequency, timings and voltages for you.
