Never buying AMD graphics card again

Recently my gtx 1080 died. So I went with a amd 5700 xt. Worse decision ever. Keep in mind I changed nothing but my graphics card. In games like Destiny 2 performance is worse than the gtx 1080. Stuttering and lag is by far worse. Decided to return it for a 2070. Anyone have these issues?

You need to uninstall old drivers and install the AMD drivers. This is user error, not manufacturer error.

Did you use DDU to get rid of the old drivers?

it's not because the 5700XT is shit, and all the generations before it since the 290X was shit, that their next generation will be shit...

Never say never again...maybe in 20 or 25 years from now these monkeys at AMD will pull their fingers out their bottom and actually start pushing decent products, you never know! 🤣

I did. With ddu in safe mode. Nvidia maybe expensive but worth it for peace of mind.

So why did you say:

Regardless, why did you blame the chip? Its highly possible you got a bad card.

do the same to AMD drivers and reinstall it, repeat more if it doesnt work properly. Stupid drivers just take more effort to work properly.

I've always used amd gpus...never had any issues. So far, have purchased 2 rx 570s, a rx 5700 and a rx580.

you probably just winged it and didnt take the time to find a half decent 5700 xt card. no after market card is the same and some are far more stable than others. sure amd has its fair share of problems, but so does nvidia. also, rx 5700 xt has just about the same performance as a 2070 super.

Also I would like to add

That even if the GPU was dead it could have been the 3rd party manufacturer (assuming it is a non reference card )

gotta love ignorance. Just because one company puts out better cards does not make other cards not decent. If that was true no one would buy AMD cards. ever for any reason.

I think its just dumb to argue over stuff like this. Each has their use and price points. People having strong opinions over seemingly pointless stuff to the point they are hostile about it is a big problem in this world. It fixes nothing and just causes rage on both sides.

Getting any card right in lockdown in my country is miracle. We ain't got stuff like Ebay here. Only local ones. Anyway it's a MSI one. And they did say 1 year replacement. Still can't believe a card I had for 3 years performs better the new one.

I had a Sapphire 5700XT for 3 weeks in April 2020 and returned it to replace with a EVGA 2070 Super FTW3. Black screens and BSOD errors every day with updated drivers on the Sapphire card. I am happy with the 2070 Super, It outperforms my buddy's MSI 2080 in some uses/games, and I would recommend a 2070 Super if you can find one for less than $600 with all of these shady retailers gouging prices....
