The chair you should get is the one you like best at the store after you sat in it :)

The store, like any stores are open.

I don't know about you, but Ikea just opened in the UK, and the queue was thousands deep.

I am not sure having the opportunity to go sit on a chair in a store is realistic one right now, especially if people have vulnerable family members at home.

I would also like to see peoples' opinions on what they have experienced with chairs to see if perhaps I can find a reliable consensus to buy a chair online.

Don't get me wrong, those people are odd, I mean, what was so urgent that you needed from Ikea that you decided to queue all day to buy it - it was not meant as an illustration of sane people behaving normally, but rather of the difficulty facing 'in store' purchases.

The US has a vast majority of stores open, even if people aren't comfortable going.

I wouldn't, and have never, bought a chair I haven't sat in first.  Of course there are reviews from others online and hopefully the OP can find something from someone near his size and body issues (if he has any), length of time using chair, desk height, arm length, etc.  Of course I would never recommend that, I would just say.... wait until store open near you :)

Ikea has a damn line here in Atlanta every day, they just rock that hard.

I tried to get a chair online, regretted it the second I sat in it. Do not get a chair without sitting in it first.

For budget ergo chairs you might look into the quantum 9000 and the workpro 12000 if you have an officedepot near you. The hyken mesh chair if you have a staples near you.

I would definitely check the used market to see if you can find a used aeron or steelcase leap. Sometimes you can find one in the 300-400 price range used. Preferably from a used office furniture store.

I will tell you my chair story

I m 1,80m and 87kg

First part.

Ibought an 85€ no-name chair. For 3 months it was perfect, after that period it started to become harder and less comfortable, arms were not great at first and they started to fail after about a year and half, after I laid my weight as I grabbed it to stand up as I always do.

second part. Back Friday arrived and I bought an "anda chair dark Knight XL" for 240€ (50€ discount) and I have next to no problems. It arrived at a huge box and as I assembled it, I saw the strong iron base it has with the memory material cushion in all parts. i have it for a year and after sitting for 12 hours I ve had no issues. I have seen it on so many known YouTubers, even if they don't advertising it.

I would buy it again.
