Which linux distro do you like best?

I'm just curious what most people think about linux distros.

Difficult to answer. I'm using Debian on my server (missing in the list btw.) because I'm most familiar with it and I feel for a server stability is key. At work we use CentOS for pretty much the same purpose. On my work machine I use Antergos (Arch) because it fits my needs the most (up-to-date packages), not because it is necessarily better as such.

After years of using Manjaro (ditched for reasons that have nothing to do with functionality) after vowing never to use any Ubuntu based distros for desktop, I ended up just going with PopOS.

 

It's quick to deploy and so far hasn't angered me in any way. Eventually I'm venture back to a rolling release distro likeopenSUSE tumbleweed. I enjoyed that one until it started giving me grief with my 3970X + Nvidia GPUs. Just needed a bit more tinkering than I had time for.

it's a distro specifically tailored for chromeOS devices (chromebooks, chromeboxes, chromebits, chromebases, im probably forgetting something)

 

based off of xubuntu and while it has some bugs its still very nice and lightweight

 

installation is also really easy with chrx, a dual boot system for chromeOS stuff

Most linux distros I use are debian based. I use Ubuntu once in a while and raspbian on my raspberry pi, which i use as a server. I feel like debian is the most "supported" by mainstream applications that actually bother to care about linux.

I've had the best out of the box experience with Linux Mint.  It's easy to customize and for my use case (light gaming and office work) does just fine for me.  The forums community has been very supportive as well.  They also came out with a Debian based version just in case Ubuntu suddenly did something that didn't like they could switch over.

You do know PopOS is a Ubuntu Based Distro.

Frequent distro hopper here! Using Manjaro currently, since I like Arch and the AUR but didn't feel like setting up Arch all over again. I LOVE PopOS (their new tiling window manager is amazing) and Linux Mint as alternatives to Ubuntu. There is a lot of documentation on the net pertaining to Ubuntu, and using a distro based on Ubuntu allows the user to take advantage of that. That said, as a more experienced user I prefer going as upstream as possible so if I'm in the mood for a Debian based distribution I'll usually go straight to Debian. I recently tried Fedora 32 and OpenSUSE (OpenSUSE was actually my main distro back in the early 2000s in my college days) and I really liked it as well. If your a veteran Linux user, I HIGHLY recommend at least once in your life building Linux From Scratch. It'll teach you a lot about the inner workings of Linux without just copy and pasting stuff from a wiki, like a lot of users end up doing with Arch or Gentoo.
