Any word on which specific motherboards will receive the BIOS update required for Zen 3?

So apparently MSI just confirmed that all their 400 series boards will support Zen 3, but I haven't heard from other manufacturers if they will do the same. Should we just take that for granted or do you guys think some boards might not get the update at all?I'm asking because I'm on a pretty entry level board (ASUS Prime B450M-A) and I haven't heard a word from ASUS as of yet. Unsure if I should upgrade it or not.

I really think all b450 will support zen 3

If the manufacturer didn't they will most likely get alot of backlash and end up just supporting it

The more premium ones are pretty likely to get 4th gen support, cheap ones like yours may get support as well but at a later date.

According to GamersNexus Asus was the only one sort of on record saying they don't mind AMD dropping support because they want to make new boards and support Zen3 only with new boards.

So expect them to have crappier support for older boards... but what else is new.

Note that AMD says that you'll be able to download the beta bios with support for Zen3 but you may not be able to revert back to give Zen2 and/or Zen1 support for the motherboard once you do it ... but I guess that also depends if you have dual bios or not, or maybe it will depend if you have 32 mb bios chip or plain 16 mb , or maybe it will depend on mobo bios programmers.

Ya the support sounds terrible. When he said that according to the bios progammers that this is a difficult process and there is a much higher chance of bricking the board, plus that it would be problematic if you update bios and it is unstable and now won't work with any zen chip, then it is up to the motherboard manufacturer if they would offer warranty.

I almost get a headache thinking about how many day one "dead motherboards" there will be. Almost like how problematic the first few months of Zen 2 motherboard bios stability was and the very vocal group of people complaining in the first week how their b450 tomahawk black screened.

I wouldn't update to Zen 3 unless you wait 6 months for all the bugs to work itself out.
