pc lagging while watching youtube

my pc is lagging for some reason while watching youtube i never had this problem

What kind of lagging? stuttering? is it skipping frames? Buffering?

Sometimes with old PCs if you go too high resolution on youtube it can stutter. Or are you talking about stuttering as in the circle icon in which case your internet isn't good enough for the resolution you are watching at.

my pc is new i have an 3200g and i am connected to gigabit ethernet

Hmmmm. Is this a prebuilt or not and has the XMP applied correctly for the RAM? I assume you are using google but you might try a different browser like OG Edge. It is much less taxing on a CPU.

Ok maybe try to use Edge or chrome and see if either works better. If not maybe, on google, try using the h.264ify add on to lessen processing load.

google uses 5 times more cpu than firefox

Fair enough but Edge, the original Edge I used on my Pentium 4 and it ran a fair bit better than chrome. Idk about firefox though. Haven't used it in over 7 years.

No I literally installed Win 10 on a Pentium 4 (32 bit unfortunately) and Edge worked CONSIDERABLY better than chrome. IE is not a good choice at all anymore even though it is still built in to modern versions of Windows for some reason.

Its stuttering too? Are you running at the proper clock speed for that chip? (look in the performance section in Task Manager)

Edit: should be around or greater than 3.6ghz.

Maybe try reinstalling firefox (idk if there are accounts or anything that youd loose by doing that)

Idk what else there is that you could do then. Maybe using a restore point and going back to before the stuttering if you have your PC set to do that.

This started happening to me last night too, on both Chrome and Firefox; YouTube is suddenly using considerably more RAM and CPU than ever before, even when I don't even have a video playing. At most I usually only got like 300MB of RAM usage and pretty low CPU usage, but now just having the site open cranks it up to ~800MB and like 60% CPU usage. Something is definitely going on here
