How do I discharge static electricity?

Plug your PSU into a power socket and flip the power switch off. Touching the casing of the PSU will ground you and discharge static.

I know you can wear a wrist strap and avoid carpets and things but what if I don't have any of that? I will be working on my PC on a bare surface with my bare hands and I read something about discharging by touching a metal part of the case but I don't know what is a metal part of my case.

Yes, you can touch any metal object that is grounded. Usually the case itself is made of metal, or the power supply.

Touching your hands to anything metal will discharge any local static.
