I was using hdmi on my monitor before, after i found out that my  hdmi only supports 100hz,i decided to change to display port. When i got my display port i plugged it in along with my hdmi for my monitors speaker. When i chose DP in my monitor's settings it goes black awhile and turns back to hdmi

Display port can be finicky. Are you able to get a signal if only the DP is plugged in? Do you have any alternative for sound?

You usually cannot use both at the same time and you sometimes cannot even have both wires plugged in at the same time.   just run a 3.5mm jack or digital out to some speakers/audio system for your audio.
