YouTube Ads are Full length Videos! How? Why?

I have no problem with a couple 30 second ads and the occasional 3 minute ad before my youtube video starts. But, lately, I've been getting "ads" that seem to be full length videos. Some are about 50 minutes long. Today, one was an entire seminar that was around 1hour and 45 minutes. Yes, it is skippable, but this really shouldn't be happening. For example, I click on a normal youtube video about personal finance, and before the video starts, I get an ad on investing going for well over an hour, just like any other youtube ad with the countdown timer. Or, I may go to one left-leaning political video, and I get an ad for an hour long show from a right-leaning political channel.

Anyone know why this is happening? Or how I can prevent it? I included a picture below. Note the 1:46:09 Timer on this ad. It's annoying and ridiculous.

It was a random video someone made from their youtube channel, who happens to use it. I don't use it personally. The point is, I went to watch their video, and this crazy long ad started playing. This happens with other videos/channels on youtube for me as well.

I didn't mean to ask you I meant to ask the original poster, but are you interested in learning?

Always interested in learning new stuff. That's what Youtube is good for. Financial, Auto repair, building a computer, whatever.

Yeah this kind of ads annoys me so much.

I like to watch podcast show without staring, just to listen the audio on my bed, then this ads came along, what a bummer, i had to wake up and press skip.

They should limit the length of video ads.

i was getting next to no ads using chromecast. Now I have upgraded to a smart TV I have yet to see any ads. The other thing you can do is make a playlist and download videos using youtube-dl.

get the youtube-dl script. I use "youtube -f140" to download just the audio. -f140 works for most videos.

I can download the whole video if i want to, but that defeats the whole concept of streaming mate.

On mobile? Like sure you can use browser to watch, but that uses twice as much battery.

This has been going on for several years now. I think like from 2017 or even earlier. At some point they shifted away, but now I've seen again more 30-120min videos as ads. Annoying, sure, but once you skip one, you don't see 2 others right after it. Like whats going on currently. Today I saw ads for competing food delivery services back to back.
