Any simple ways to switch between two volume levels without going through all the levels in between?

jerrac

Hey all,

When my parents watch movies or tv, they have to constantly move the volume up and down. When there's lots of loud action, down, when it's quiet talking, up. They generally seem to end up at about the same levels for each situation. That got me thinking, what if they could just hit a "low" button, and it would turn the volume down, and a "high" button to turn it back up?

Would a universal remote do the job?

Sound is going through a Sony STR-DH740 receiver.

Any ideas?

dont know about that BUT....there should be a equalize sound setting you can turn on in most tvs to fix that (not sure what tv)

even your receiver should have something in that effect (night mode)

Yeah, easiest bet is to look into a night mode or other volume equalization. Films on TV are typically formatted to have less dynamic range, DVDs however typically don't. I don't know about streaming, it could go either way. I'd bet on it being compressed.

I think I remember a night mode on my receiver. I'll look into that. Thanks!

Welp, turns out I had Night Mode on already. I found a couple other audio options that might help, but I'm not really expecting them to.
