Which will perform better on Catalina/2020's MacOS

So, I'm looking for a second hand Macbook. Then I found a MBA 2017 8gb 128gb, then again I found a MBP 13 Early 2015 8gb 256gb. For nearly the same price. Which will perform better on Catalina/2020's MacOS?

What CPUs do both have? They both had the option of i5 or i7, and the Pro had the option of 2 different i5s, so without knowing which CPU they have we can't really say which one is going to be better.

Most likely the pro will perform better as it had better CPUs in the lineup by default and has better cooling. The macbook airs are sorta shit computers and at 128gbs you are going to fill it up almost instantly

the i5 in the MBP is a proper i5. The one in the macbook air is a 2 core 4 thread. MBP will be faster.

If i'm right, every Macbook Pro 13" earlier than late 2018 has only Dual Core options.

Looks like you are right. They are all dual core with hyperthreading.

I think the MBA 2017 will last me longer to the newer MacOS also, MBP will only support based on my knowledge the next 2 MacOS, but if I choose the MBA. I can use it for another 4 MacOS.

@ItsMeRachata buy the Pro for sure. it has a better screen and twice the storage. 

 

the thing about macOS versions is false. i use a 2012 MBP and it still supports the latest version of macOS and is unlikely to be dropped with the new version this year.
