Custom font breaks icons

Go to solution Solved by colonel_mortis,

The fonts that we use for icons are FontAwesome and 'Material Icons'. You should whitelist those - this isn't a forum bug.

Browser, version and OS:

Google Chrome Version 81.0.4044.138 (latest stable release)

Windows 10 build 19041,208 (current Windows insider Slow Ring release)

Steps to reproduce?

Install custom font

Force the use of said font with an extention, i use this one.

What happened?

all icons on the side break and are either replaced with text or a square.

Screenshots of the issue, if applicable:

i know this is probably an issue nobody else encounters, and i'm not expecting the team here to put a bunch of time into fixing this, but if there is a quick fix i'd love to know.

Well if you force the site to use it, it can glitch up almost everywhere since the site needs support for the font

Icons are actually fonts, not images. Or those which will break, like bottom button and messages/notifs. The "issue" where they don't load correctly from Google's servers, or someone wants to block the use of Google's service for them has been discussed couple of times before.

This is beyond my knowledge of fonts, but if you could modify font to add these characters which are used as buttons on forum, this could be fixes.

i can add manual rules in that extention, so i'd need to add it manually. i'd need to know what exact font the buttons are though.

Using Chrome's element inspector, one will find that the bell notification icon is using Font Awesome.
