I need a little help on integrated graphics with cpu

I have a Ryzen 5 with integrated graphics can i slap a RX 580 8 GB.

Yep that wouldn't be a problem, having integrated graphics doesn't prevent you from using a discrete graphics card.

To add to The_russian, you're gonna need a discrete graphics card to do almost anything with your computer

No you don’t... Unless you’re doing work that REQUIRES the grunt from a dGPU. The R5 x400g parts run esports fine as long as you’re not expecting 1080p medium for £120-150. 
 

Will add that the APU chips (the one you have) only have 8 PCIE lanes vs 16 on the regular chips for if you want any other PCIE expansion with your GPU.

what a shame.

Wouldn't it be better if when a dGPU is inserted and the iGPU gets disabled for the cpu to switch lanes into full 16x for the dGPU ?

as if those 8x lanes are being disabled with the igpu...

Don’t think they can do it, either the ones go to the iGPU or they don’t. They could add more lanes but that’s a complete revamp of the chop and it’d be more expensive

Well you can’t switch lanes it’s direct lines to the GPU on the same package as the CPU. Best if you imagine the lanes as a road, you can just take an entry ramp from a supermarket and switch it to the backside at a whim

maybe both roads can exist...

when one closes the other opens.

so the same number of "active" lanes is the same.
