i have read somewhere that i can put my AMD card into compute mode i have looked all over the AMD adrenalin software now and cant find it

anyone know where i can find this setting ?

From what I remember, the setting for that is in Radeon Settings. Somewhere in System maybe?

I don't have an AMD card anymore and I don't remember.

My card doesn't have that setting so it probably doesn't apply to all AMD GPUs.

Yes. See documentation: "Note! This option is available on supported graphics cards"

i guess my 290x is just to old to do real folding work XD

My vega 64 isn't that old but also doesn't have it.
Maybe because it's already a 'comput' card and doesn't need any setting to be enabled for that...

what kinda PPD are you getting with the 64 ?

I don't mine or fold, I use it for CAD and rendering.

I have an RX 480 and I have that setting (on Linux in CoreCtrl, haven't checked on Windows).

I am folding and have it switched to compute... but to be honest I don't see much of a difference. Haven't done any extensive benchmarks though. I suppose it might make more of a difference if you're running different stuff at the same time in terms of which workload gets more resources. If you only have one workload, I assume that gets full power either way.

aah ok would you benefit by running in compute mode for that workload you think ?

Probably?

I don't know, I feel like AMD is making driver improvements so that the card itself can perform the best it can in a certain task without having to manually switch anything.

Just like all the newer cards like 5700XT don't have it.
