Motherboard for Ryzen 7 3700x

Hi i am looking at getting a ryzen 7 3700x but not sure on what motherboard to get. i have been looking at the msi mpg x570 gaming pro carbon wifi not sure if its the one though. I have a $400 AUD budget. stick with the msi mpg x570 gaming pro carbon wifi or what should i get. thanks 

Edit: wifi is not needed and even a b450 board would do

asus x570 tuf (wifi) is the best motherboard in its price range.

Motherboard tier list. Tier A for overclocking 5950x. Tier B for overclocking 5900x, Tier C for overclocking 5800X. Tier D for overclocking 5600X. Tier F for 4/6 core Cpus at stock. Tier E avoid.

(Also case airflow matter or if you are using Downcraft air cooler)

Gpu tier list. Rtx 3000 and RX 6000 not included since not so many reviews. Tier S for Water cooling. Tier A and B for overcloking. Tier C stock and Tier D avoid.

( You can overclock Tier C just fine, but it can get very loud, that is why it is not recommended for overclocking, same with tier D)

Please don't. MSI's current entry to mid level X570 boards have subpar VRMs.

 

If you need onboard Wi-Fi, go for ASUS' TUF X570-PLUS (Wi-Fi), or wait for MSI's X570 Tomahawk.

You could also go with a B450 board like an MSI B450 Gaming Pro Carbon Max. It should be enough for up to a stock 3900X.

it's good...just doesn't have pcie gen4 support...xD...msi x570 you can wait for the tomahawk or get the unify...for msi's b450 look for those with a MAX in the name..or you'll have to check if the bios is updated for ryzen 3000s...

Non-MAX B450 boards aren't guaranteed to have Ryzen 3000 support out of the box.

its not hard to update the bios just need bios flash back i think thats what its called

yeah ive heard the tomahawks are great boards and a mate of mine has a carbon pro he says its a good board and it looks good

oh ya...i forgot these 2 boards has bios flash function...lol..but the bios is a cut down lite version...you can still do all the overclock you need on it...the MAX versions has larger bios chip to get the full bios installed...

Looking at the b450 boards and there $200aud cheaper the some x570 boards would it be worth getting a b450 and a ryzen 9 3900x instead of a x570 board and a 3700x?

it's up to you...i've got a 3700x with msi meg x570 ace and looking at ryzen 4000s cpu as an upgrade in the future...i've gotten them when it launched so it's not the best board around...

MSI has just relased the X570 Tomahawk for around 200 bucks. According to Steve from HArdware Unboxed it is the best budget x570 board on the market so far. If you can get one of those - go for it. MSI just solved all the issues the Gaming Pro Carbon and the other budget x570 boards had. It can run a 16 core without issues and cool VRM.

 

If the Tomahawk is not available (yet), look out for the Gigabyte Aorus X570 Elite. Also a great board for about 200 bucks, solid VRM and PLENTY of USB ports, in case that matters. A third alternative is the Asus TUF X570 Plus. The Tomahawk would be my No1 choice if available.

 

Maybe Linus and crew could have a more detailed look at the MSI X570 Tomahawk - also buildzoid calls it his new "go to Board for overclocking".

ASRock ist not an option in this price range due to the really bad UEFIs they have. The X570 Tomahawk would be the best option if available.
