CPU reaching 100% (i7 7700)

my specs are: i7 7700, RTX 2070 SUPER, 850w gold psu, 16 gb ram, motherboard is gigabyte b250m-d2v thats all the info i think you need

my cpu is reaching a 100% when playing games almost all of them like r6 bf v gta v a sometimes even in valorant (on low-medium 2k btw cuz if i do more it drops every 5 sec) i only run 1 tab of firefox dicord and spotify and one of the games and i get fps drops every time its reaching a 100% (about every 20 sec) its not thermal throttling i checked im not sure why is  that is the i7 7700 a bottle neck to the rtx 2070 super? i asked that a few months ago here and i was told that it had at least 2 years is this a reason to upgrade or is that somthing else? if its a yes what cpu do you recommend? i need an intel cpu since my ram is quite slow (2133)

I don't think you can upgrade to the 8000 or 9000 series processor with your B250 chipset, you'll need a new motherboard IIRC.

Main Rig :

Ryzen 7 2700X | Powercolor Red Devil RX 580 8 GB | Gigabyte AB350M Gaming 3 | 16 GB TeamGroup Elite 2400MHz | Samsung 750 EVO 240 GB | HGST 7200 RPM 1 TB | Seasonic M12II EVO | CoolerMaster Q300L | Dell U2518D | Dell P2217H |

Laptop :

Thinkpad X230 | i5 3320M | 8 GB DDR3 | V-Gen 128 GB SSD |

Yes with those settings your cpu is apperently bottlenecking your gpu.

but I7 7700 is no slow CPU and when youre running low-medium and i guess with high fps count on 1920x1080?.

iam more conserned about you say it drops if you go higher settings? you have a very powerfull GPU so when you run lower settings (resolutions and details) it will demand even more of your CPU. i dont see any reason to upgrade your CPU, but how many FPS are you getting in games? and are you running a high frame rate monitor so you need high FPS?

well the short answer is yes it is bottlenecked, but it wouldnt upgrade if it was me.
are you running vertical sync or another thing to fit refresh rate of monitor and computer?
in my experience not many games max out a 4,2ghz 4core cpu.

personally iam running a i7-2700k with a 1070, on 1140p 144hz screen. and the CPU is not bottlenecking.
but the 2070 is also quite a upgrade.

but regarding to this, yes it will definitely work well together. but a expensive upgrade for not that much of a bump in performance.

That's not a good option. The Ryzen 7 3700X is faster cheaper, uses much less power, runs a lot cooler and has an upgrade path.

its not faster and as i said only intel since upgrading the ram is not worth getting a ryzen cpu since the ram will cost more then the discount that ryzen gives

You wouldnt need to upgrade the ram to go to Ryzen, they both use DDR4. The R7 3700x will beat a 9700k at 99% of tasks as well

PC: Ryzen 7 2700 | RX 5700 XT | Asus Prime B450-PLUS | CoolerMaster Masterwatt 600W | 32GB Corsair Vengeance 3200MHz RAM | 512GB NVME SSD & 7TB combined HDD | macOS Monterey 12.6.6, Windows 7 Ultimate x64 and WIndows 10 Pro x64

Laptop: MacBook Pro 15" 2015 | i7-4870HQ | R9 M370X | 16gb | 1tb SSD

iPhone 13 Pro Max | 256GB | iOS 15.7

Oh yea it is. Currently, after all BIOS and security patches, Intel's lead ING gaming has all but disappeared. As for the RAM it also affects intel so that's also part of your issue, slow RAM

It's about heat mostly. The 9700K is close to two times hotter. You're basically going to need beefy cooling for it

as i said noctua dh-15 is on my buy list and i'd say its a pretty good cpu cooler even for oc?

and im kinda maxed out on budget so upgradin ram with it is not an option

Not really - Intel also suffer a hefty penalty from slow high-latency RAM.

I guess - but instead of investing that much in a cooler, you might as well get a 12-core 3900X 🤷‍♂️

again ram is the biggest problem rn ryzen cpus NEED fast ram to preform normally

Аgain, you're thinking Zen 1 - we're all talking Zen 2. Zen 2 take a similar hit to Intel CPUs due to the MUCH better cache

so you're saying 2133 mhz sticks would function normally with it? and lets say i do buy 3900x what mother board and cooler do you recommend?

For the board - even a B450 Tomahawk (MAX) would be more than enough. For the cooler - if you're doing heavy (all 12-core) work - probably an Arctic eSports 34 (cheapest) or Dark Rock Slim (optimal performance). But if all you do is game, even the stock Wraith Prism is more than enough for that CPU.
