Help with 1k Budget Build for friend

Propensity

Hello all I am here to get some help with a budget build for a friend.

I am getting him away from an old console and into computer gaming and he needs a rig that can do that for him. He has a 7 year old macbook pro and sees my overdone 2k rig and gets scared about costs. I was hoping to build a smaller rig for 1k with a matx board and decent graphics card to get him in the door. I was looking at 760ish performance for graphics. I just want him to have a rig that is solid and can handle any game a max or close to max details right now. If possible I also want to get a boot drive ssd but I know how hard that can be on this kind of this kind of budget. Thanks for any and all help

What kind of games and does he already monitor. If so what is the default res of the monitor?

As for an ssd go with a samsung 840 evo "120GB" cheap and great performance

He will be playing most AAA games, minecraft. Not going to worry about the monitor right this second as we haven't even nailed down a final budget yet. I just think a smaller tower and matx board to keep the build compact will work well for him.

Linus has released some pretty sweet reviews on MAtx cases. Some of the obsidian ones are legit.

For a little more I would get a WD red.

I would drop the 60gb ssd (Not even close to enough storage) and go with a seagate hybrid drive.
