LG Ultrafine to work on a PC

Hey guys!

I've been a Mac user for a bit (oh my god oh no lol) so I have the 4K LG Ultrafine monitor but when I tried to connect it to my first PC (yes, I built it myself! woo!) the monitor would display the Setup and Bios and then would black out and would be unresponsive. So I ended shelling out some money on a Asus Swift PG279 to use with my PC. But now I just saw Linus's vid with him using the monitor with a Razer, any ideas how I can get mine to work?

Does it still work with the Apple? If not then it's likely defective.

If it works with the Apple, than it's something else. Are you plugging it into the video card? Have you tried all the ports?

You're better off with the PG279Q anyways. I wouldn't worry about it unless you're trying to go dual monitor

Yes it still does, I tried with my Mac Mini. I'm using the RTX 2080 Super Gaming OC White 8GB with the provided thunderbolt cable from lg into the slot of the graphics card.

Uhhh what are you plugging a thunderbolt cable into? The 2080 doesn't have a thunderbolt port.

None.

You could get it to work...but it means getting a new motherboard and probably CPU.

You'd have to buy an X299 motherboard that comes with a Thunderbolt add on card.

and that would allow the monitor to work? so that means i also need an intel cpu correct?
