I have a Crucial 240GB 2.5" SSD that refuses to function as an Internal Drive. It won't Initialize and doesn't display the correct drive size; but when connected to one of those SATA to USB cables, it pops right up as a removable disc if I plug it in outside the case. Did it develop a fear of the dark, or is it just a coaster now?

Installed Inside (Yes, I tried many different cables both Data and Power)

I'm starting to think it's maybe a really weird driver issue?

Can you maybe try to create a linux live usb (something like ubuntu or linux mint should do the trick) and see if the SSD works with that?

You can easily create one if you have a spare usb drive around (4GB is enough, more is also fine) and with UUI.

Since it works using a SATA to USB adapter, I'd say it's something software related most likely. It seems pretty likely the drive itself is perfectly functional.

Well the odd thing in that regard is that I have two identical drives and the other one works just fine. That's why I assumed that is was something odd about the drive itself.

If you look at the drive's SMART data, does it show anything?
