Hey All,

i currently have a 7th Gen i5 7400 CPU and i'd like to go to a 9th gen 9600k and new motherboard.

wondering at this current time is it worth an upgrade or to wait for a new generation?

i am  also-running a liquid cooler 16gb ddr4 3200 ram and 1070strix if that helps.

Thanks for the replies ( if any )

If you are going with a new mobo go with a ryzen CPU and a mobo that have ryzen support

I have not  looked much into AMD tbh, are they that much better atm ?

i'd be going for something like a AMD Ryzen 5 3600X i'd say

The price is lower on amd and yes amd is better at this point here is the price for the AMD Ryzen 5 3600X $225.99 on Amazon and the Intel Core i5-9600K is $256.65 on also Amazon and here is a Dota 2 Benchmark, may not look better but it is trust me and almost everyone else on the forum

If you plan on doing any multi threaded work like streaming or video encoding, go amd 100%. For multi threaded work loads, they cream Intel at the moment.

If all you care about is gaming only and want the absolute best frame rate and will close all other apps, then spend the extra for Intel.
