Need Help regarding GPU upgrade

Hi i am looking for some help in terms of a graphics card. 

 

My current specs of my PC is a:

AMD ryzen 5 3600

x62 nzxt cpu cooler

vengeance 3000 16 gb ram

rx 480 nitro saphire 4gb <---------------------------------- This is what i'm hoping to upgrade

and a ssd (typical storage)

 

I also would like to note that i recently bought a LG Ultragear 27GL83A-B which is only g-sync compatible monitor (From what i know)

 

My budget is roughly up to £650. (currently in UK). Knowing the pandemic we are currently faced the market for the GPU's are going up and im not sure i should get one now or later. I also heard the that 3000 series for NVIDIA is coming out so i don't know if it worth an upgrade now or wait till that series comes out. However im running games at a low FPS which is somewhat unplayable even in low settings.

3000 series wont come cheap in this year if it does come out say, September or October, as per Nvidia tradition

 

I'd say an RTX 2080 will be all you need for at least 3 years, though that does mean you wont get to try out the "properly implemented" RTX hardware (i.e. after they found out what's wrong with 20 series and fix them with the replacement)

Ahh another question. Is the 2070 super better than the 2080 or should i just settle with a 2080. I also quite confused with the manufacturers that provide these cards is tehre any recommendations for theses

I'd say the RX 5700 XT is by far the best value and makes the most sense, but if you really are stuck on G-sync I would get a 2080S, they start very near your budget.

1440p card the lowest i'd go is 5700xt. Ideally, 2070 super, 2080 super.

2070S is over 10% slower than the 2080 and more so when overclocked (as 2080 is somewhat memory limited), It is better value (in most markets anyway), you are hitting the point where value for money starts dropping (not as bad as the 2080ti though)

 

2080S is just 2080 with faster memory and mild (barely noticeable) speed increase, dont buy this Super if it's more expensive than the standard 2080.

 

As for brand, EVGA has the best customer support while other 1st tier brands like Asus MSI and Gigabyte fall behind. 2nd tier brands like Zotac, Palit, Gainward, Galax are a bit worse there but the cards themselves are still solid (as long as you avoid the cheapest of custom models they make, of course)

Tbh he's not stuck with Gsync, Gsync compatible is just rebadged Freesync without HDMI support.

Yeah not dried cement stuck haha, I have heard mileage may vary on cross compatibility and certain panels though? I haven't really spent mush time looking into this though.

Yes, some reported flickering and stuff though most appear fine and it's not model specific either

Good to know! Yeah I've only seen the complaints of issues, most people won't go out of their way to promote a good experience if they have no issues.
