Border left vs bottom transition issue [SOLVED]

Hi, i'm trying to make a simple css transition for a single border on hover. However, border-bottom acts different than border-left when doing this and i was wondering why and how to fix it. Basically i want the border-left to act like border-bottom (like a color overlay), how do i achieve this?
