What happened?

-200 error

 

What did you expect to happen?

The error message sucks, but this is caused by the image being too big or complex (after decompression) to be processed by the forum. Picking an image with smaller dimensions, or applying lossy compression, should help to get below that limit.

Well the limit is listed on the site right there and just try to use a simple program like gimp to downscale the image

The limit is in terms of the memory that the forum can use to resize it, not a hard size limit. When resizing, the library that we use doesn't support some of the lossless compression methods that gifs support, so it makes it bigger before processing it. If you have an image that has been heavily losslessly compressed to fit within the 2mb limit, it will probably exceed the resource limits, so you need to use lossy compression instead (reduce the resolution and colour palette).
