I am debating on what to upgrade. I was wanting to trade my gfx card and get a 2080 or would I be bottle necked? Should I sell my setup and just get a better motherboard/cpu? I am only planning on playing World of Warcraft Classic which can run on a toaster but I want a computer that will last forever with the upcoming games and if I wanted to try photoshop/streaming, could uphold that "lifestyle choice".

If youre not overclocking then your cpu, but I think its fine.

If you want to get a new high-end gpu then upgrade your power supply aswell, go with at least 700W.

Just wait until your pc cant handle whatever youre playing or it breaks and then start deciding.

Not like the tomahawk is a cheap motherboard by any regard, what would you need to get out of a new board?

I WILL find your ITX build thread, and I WILL recommend the SIlverstone Sugo SG13B

Primary PC:

i7 8086k - EVGA Z370 Classified K - G.Skill Trident Z RGB - WD SN750 - Jedi Order Titan Xp - Hyper 212 Black (with RGB Riing flair) - EVGA G3 650W - dual booting Windows 11 and Fedora Linux - Black and green theme, Razer brainwashed me.

Draws 400 watts under max load, for reference.

How many watts do I need?

Currently I am overclocked to 3.65ghz through Bios menu which is the Game Mode. So you guys say its fine for now unless I decide to get the 3600x. I just might do it. I don't know how to upgrade my Bios to get something like that because I read on PC Part Picker that I needed to update. I might need help on it but im willing to try.

@Alkyy@AndiqTo upgrade my GPU, you guys would recommend a PSU 700W+ upgrade but I would wait until Fall you guys say. I will gladly use my stimulus check to do this. I want a badass GPU.

@FasauceomeI just want a computer that I wont have to worry about. I just bought a PCIE wireless adapter for wifi. I am not concerned about Bluetooth or wifi but maybe some RGB and enough RAM slots to run 32GB and some M.2 but other than that, just a top notch board. I don't mind spending time on it.

What you may wanna do is fix your ram as you are losing dual channel due to the odd config and that does have a good impact on performance.

Your current pc is fine for gaming nowadays at 1080p and for the next couple of years probably too.

Your current motherboard is already really good so no point replacing it and it can easily run 32gb of ram as you are already doing that. What resolution do you game at?

I game at 1080P. I don't plan on ever gaming on 4K unless its my final upgrade.

@jaslionshould I remove my Vengeance LPX 3000mhz 16gb ram and just keep my 16gb T Force Delta RGB Ram? Or does it matter than much having 32GB Ram with 2 brands?

All you lose with the current config is dual channel which gives about a 10-15% cpu performance increase. So removing the 16gb stick will activate dual channel if the sticks are in the correct slots and give you a boost in performance but of course you lose 16gb of ram. Hoaver for your usecase I don't really see a problem with 16gb of ram as that should be more than fine.

As Ive already said, just keep waiting. The latest GPUs use PCIE 4.0 but only the high end motherboards have it. The gpus barely use that bandwith however so theres no need to really upgrade at the moment. AMD just announced the 4000 series cpus are coming in september so no rush. Maybe wait for new architecture and then do a big ugprade with mb/cpu/gpu/psu.

Even with 250 chrome tabs and one of the biggest minecraft modpacks I was just barely using up all of my 16gbs of memory. Having 2 different sets may be causing some minor slowdowns but do more research on this.

@Alkyy@jaslionI never understood the whole Dual Channel rams. It shows on my board and in my manual to insert the DDR4 in the two slots for dual channel boost but then said to use the other 2 after you use the first 2 slots (as noted). I just need to make sure that I can use 2 tabs on Google Chrome but my computer is super slow and that thing ate up all my ram. Its very hard to search Wikipedia at this time. Jokes aside, I just wanted to have the 32gb in my system since I have the rams in my house. Ill remove the vengeance and use the T Force instead.

Alkyy is probably right but I just want to continue building and upgrading so bad! That 3600x sounds so smooth.

You can always do it later. I know the urge but once you have the 3600 you'll notice that the 1600 was totally fine too. It's a good exercise to learn to control your impulses and only upgrade when you actually need to or notice that things could make a quite noticeable difference.
