So i want to get a new desktop to play some games but my parents are super stingy and even worse, we're ASIAN. so it would never work if i told them i wanted to build a SGD$1600 desktop to GAME. so please help me come up with some excuse to make them buy one. My father is also like a tech guy so i cant lie. also i will never lie(failure to state some facts do not count tho:D)

things i think could be helpful in arguing:

im using a 10yr old desktop

intel e1280

integrated graphics

stock cooler

unbranded psu

160gb hdd(also unbranded)

unbranded cheap poor quality case

p5g41t-m lx motherboard

the only 2 fans are in the psu and stock cooler, 0 case fans

i also do some  3d modeling and this pc cant handle blender

so PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE help me come up with some excuses and arguments. im planning to build it this december

Hey there. This thread by a kindred spirit might be relevant to you, there's an ongoing(?) discussion about convincing study-focused parents to purchase a new system for whatever purposes:

My opinions on the topic:

Hm. Got some reservations about answering, but I'll put those aside until they become relevant.

If you want any chance at a convincing your parents successfully, try to sympathize with their position. A good parent has their child's well-being at heart, and this can come off as overbearing at times. Why are some parents so focused on their child's studies? One answer (albeit an over-simplified one) is that they want their child to be prepared for the stress of college and/or work by the time their child reaches adulthood, and to be financially stable later in life. If this sounds like your parents, you can pursue the "a PC will be a good investment that will help me develop IT-related skills that will be relevant to X degree I wish to work toward in college or Y career I am interested in" line of reasoning.

But please, do try to consider your family's financial status/burdens. I'm getting the impression that you're dependent on your parents for income. Is getting a PC a reasonable course of action for your family and yourself? (Rhetorical question, please do not post any identifying details on this forum.)
